Publishing & Printing

What does a full-service book publishing company actually do?

A full-service publishing company turns your finished manuscript into a professionally published book: interior typesetting, ISBN registration, copyright deposit, print management, and distribution listings on Amazon, Ingram, Barnes & Noble and library supply chains. Bradbury Publishers handles all of it in your name — you are the publisher of record and you keep 100% of your rights and royalties.

Publishing is the unglamorous half of the book world: trim sizes, paper weights, sewn versus perfect binding, Bowker ISBNs, Copyright Office registration, publisher-of-record paperwork, metadata, categories and keywords. There are hundreds of small decisions, each one able to quietly cost you sales or money. We make them with you — then we make them disappear.

For US authors we manage both print paths: print-on-demand through Amazon KDP and IngramSpark, where a copy is printed only when a reader buys it, and offset runs for authors who want unit costs low enough for events, bookstores and wholesale. You approve a physical proof of every edition before anything ships, and your listings go live with metadata tuned for discovery.

Frequently asked questions about publishing & printing

How much does it cost to publish a book in the US?

A professionally published paperback — typesetting, cover, ISBNs and listings — is quoted flat after we see your manuscript's length and format needs. Print itself is paid per copy by the printer (Amazon and Ingram), not by us. Request a publishing quote and you'll get one itemized number with nothing recurring.

Should I choose print-on-demand or an offset print run?

Print-on-demand suits most first-time authors: zero inventory, and a book prints when a reader orders. Offset wins when you need many copies for events, bookstores or wholesale, because the per-unit cost drops sharply at volume. We show you both cost curves for your page count and let the math decide.

Who owns the ISBN and the copyright?

You do, both. We register your Bowker ISBNs in your name — so your book is never locked to our imprint — and guide your Copyright Office registration. If our name isn't on the rights, we haven't done our job.

Will my book be available in bookstores?

Through IngramSpark with returnability enabled, your title is orderable by virtually any US bookstore and most libraries. Physical shelf placement always depends on buyer interest — no honest company can guarantee shelf space — but we make your book easy to order and arm you with a sell-sheet for local store pitches.

How long does publishing take?

From final manuscript to live listings is typically four to six weeks: one to two for typesetting and cover, then registration, proof approval and platform review windows (Amazon and Ingram each take a few business days). We give you a dated calendar before we start.

Do you take a percentage of my sales?

Never. Bradbury charges flat service fees only. Your Amazon and Ingram accounts pay royalties directly to you, and we're never a middleman on your money. That's in the contract, in writing.

Your manuscript is ready — make it official. Request a publishing quote and hold a printed proof in your hands this season.
